Award Winning Author Peggy Sholly honors 3,000 Families of Deployed U.S. Troops with Down Home Delicious Commemorative Cookbook

Three thousand families of our American Heroes deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan will be honored with a commemorative copy of the Down Home Delicious cookbook. The cookbook is being donated to Military Moms and Wives of Brazoria County by author Peggy Sholly, for distribution to military families in gratitude and recognition for the families’ sacrifices during their loved one’s service to our country. On December 12, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Peggy Sholly, Publisher Stonywood Publications and MMWBC will host a kick-off event at the MMWBC headquarters. The event will be held at 313 W. Mulberry Street in Angleton, Texas and will include book signing from noon to 2 p.m. and care package preparation from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Volunteers to assist with the several thousand care packages are heartily welcomed.

Down Home Delicious and its author Peggy Touchtone Sholly were introduced to 70 top national TV, Radio and Magazine Media in New York on March 30 shortly after receiving the 2008 Mom’s Choice Gold Award that recognizes authors, inventors, companies, parents and others for their efforts in creating quality family-friendly media products and services. Upon her return home, Peggy began a whirlwind series of Radio interviews and book signings from Ontario, Canada to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is now a sought after radio guest, mesmerizing audiences with her experience of online dating and subsequent marriage and authorship of her first book all after the age of 60. Laugh with her as she recounts her feelings of vulnerability and shed a tear or two as she relates one of the most romantic marriage proposals you will ever hear. Who says seniors are over the hill? Peggy Sholly was assisted by Patrick Hammer, KSTP Channel 5 Meteorologist and Peggy's son-in-law, in her predations to be a featured guest on Twin Cities Live KSTP Channel 5 in Minneapolis on December 14. She prepared a mini Louisiana Shrimp Boil and spoke about how the way to a man's heart starts in the kitchen. Recipes from her multiple national award winning cookbook, Down Home Delicious, were used for the demo including, boiled shrimp, corn on the cob and red potatoes with homemade Louisiana cocktail sauce and tartar sauce. In the background the audience enjoyed Ultimate Indulgence Chocolate Cake. The menu received rave reviews and a good time was had by all.
